This essay is a first draft from a student. As you can see, informal language has been used throughout. The grammar is poor. The student misunderstood the plot.

[Please note: In the play, A Doll House, by Henrick Ibsen, the character Nora is not really a spendthrift. Rather, she pretends to be a spendthrift in order to hide the fact that she is repaying a loan she took to save her husbands life.]

A Doll’s House is an Interesting story. I say This because I can relate to the lifestyle the character “Nora?had to live. I chose Nora because she reminded one of my mother in the sense that she tirelessly wanted to be able to spend money regardless of the consequences. In society today we still find people who have the same spending habits as Nora.

In the story we find from the very Beginnings Nora spending away money without any thought about tomorrow. She event tips the delivery itself. We also see that she (Nora) buys gifts for everyone except herself and when asked what she would like most she says “give me money? I can remember as a little boy how during the Holidays my mother would spend money on extravagances that could have been better left out or put to better use.

Also we find Nora secretly borrowing money to take a trip with her husband. Nora has no real way to repay the money she borrowed and she has no collateral to cover against the debts incurred.

Overall, I think that Nora Character is much like the women of today in that they spend, spend, spend, and worry about the debts later and find themselves faced with high interest on their credit cards not able to pay enough to meet the principal costs.

Nora, inadvertently makes everyone around her happy except her husband Torvald. He’s the practical one realizing that she (Nora) is a spendthrift. He even calls her that in the first Act. This play has a lot of basic values that can be found in people today. I wouldn’t Recommend this book because of the potential bad light it casts on women who are dependent on someone else?income.
